Director, Tender & Estimating to oversee the design, fabrication, management and installation of exterior and interior metal façade projects, parabolic roofing projects, and ETFE (Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) architectural systems projects. Convert complex architectural designs into 3-D Models that will be turned into wire frame scripts that can be downloaded into CNC machines for fabrication. Oversee and prepare bid proposals and fabrication for project delivery, including fabrication implementation adaptable to bespoke custom-built machinery and equipment. Oversee and coordinate proposals for final presentation to clients, including scope of work, as well as the strategy for design, manufacturing, fabrication, procurement, supply chain logistics, installation and how the project will ultimately be executed, including the installation timeline commensurate with the project schedule to include analysis of critical predecessor activities. Review potential and existing client design concepts to determine feasibility and viable cost saving measures. Provide input to computational designers that includes advanced specialized computer program scripts which define the parameters for the manufacturing process and allows for the automation of the fabrication process for mega building projects with complex geometries. Coordinate with supply chain vendors around the world to ensure timely procurement of the required materials. Coordinate the selection of raw material sourcing (e.g. aluminum, stainless steel, zinc, copper, titanium, steel, etc.). Oversee the fabrication process and the supply chain delivery to the project sites, ensuring the most labor-efficient installation processes on numerous largescale, multi-million-dollar projects. Determine the thickness/gauge of roof panels and insulation for metal façade projects. Coordinate with structural engineers to determine primary and secondary framing systems for applicable design loads, applicable roll formers, and roof water run-off calculations necessary for metal façade projects.

Requirements: 5 years of experience in the building envelope/cladding industry, specifically experience in: bid development and materials sourcing for ETFE projects; converting complex architectural designs into 3D models to turn into wire frame scripts; and coordinating with structural engineers to determine primary/secondary framing systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • In-depth knowledge of general industrial maintenance procedures along with a skill set that includes basic proficiencies in some or all of the following: electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems in addition to general facility maintenance.
  • Ability to operate, perform and manage technically complex projects using independent judgement and personal initiative.
  • Reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical procedures, electrical schematics, blueprints, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance.
  • (Dis)assembling/installing new machines or equipment, etc.
  • Schedule and drop off company vehicles for maintenance; maintain & provide recordkeeping documents to Shop Forman/Accounting.
  • Knowledgeable in safety standards and regulations, MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sheet metal/construction estimating and project management, with a focus on cost control and negotiating contracts. Responsibilities

  • Receives bid requests through the sales department for estimation purposes.
  • Analyzes drawings, specs, and related documents to produce detailed takeoffs. Diligently works with the sales group to meet all deadlines for bid submission.
  • Understands contractual language and consults with appropriate employees to ensure Bemo meets all requirements.
  • Collects and organizes vendor quotations and negotiates to ensure quotes meet contract documents.
  • Reviews completed projects to verify material, equipment, and project management time budgets were accurate and adjusts accordingly for subsequent bids.
  • Creates and presents reports to upper management.
  • Participates in awarded contract startup meetings to fully convey bid thought process and scope elements.

Experience

  • 5+ years experience as a senior estimator
  • 10+ years experience in the metal industry
  • Ability to interpret specs, bid invitations and perform takeoff.
  • Architectural sheet metal and ACM estimating experience.
  • Ability to meet bid deadlines.
  • Strong organization and documentation skills, strong math skills (plane, geometry, statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent goals.
  • Strong math, documentation, critical thinking, well-organized and good follow-through skills needed.
  • Construction Terminology knowledge
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, business journals, specs, plans.
  • Able to professionally address project specification and drawing requirements to project teams.
  • Able to present information to top management, general contractors, and public groups.
